Frequently Asked Questions:

What kinds of art techniques do you teach?

I teach all fundamental art skills using traditional art materials. As primary skills, students learn to draw and paint with various materials such as pencils, pastels, acrylic, and watercolor. Students can also explore sculpture, ceramics, fiber arts, paper arts, photography, and digital illustration, such as Procreate, Photoshop, and SketchUp. The techniques taught are based on the experience and interest level of the students. Art history, appreciation, essential elements of art, and design principles are integrated and reinforced throughout the lessons.

What projects sorts of projects can students expect?

Projects are designed to explore materials, themes, and styles most beneficial to the students. We work on larger, longer projects that develop over weeks, creating something unique. Additionally, there are practice projects designed to teach skills in a fun and relaxed manner. I love experimenting and am excited to try new materials and projects, especially if students have requested them!

Do you teach art history and art appreciation?

YES! I am a passionate appreciator of ART and fascinated by artists, new and old and very old. Our art studies include viewing and analyzing important classic and modern artists to learn how their work influences contemporary artists.
