Early Beginnings

I. In early days, the vital light, which pulls the seeds up from the depth, did not dispel the shadows nor erase the shade laid long over forces thriving there, in barest provision, beneath the soil.

II. It does not stop the seed from growing.

III. Lanky, undissuaded, eager to achieve, the shattered shell still release spindly stalks which twist round for something sturdy, straight and pulls itself up from the deep; leaning out now towards what is needed, roots latched anchors to stone, are plowing deeper with needle tips, seeking sustenance-ancient, always newborn.

IV. The life within the seed does not ask permission to thrive.
